Diversity is being invited to the party; Inclusion is being asked to dance. Celebrating Women in Tech!
Vibrant, young, and ambitious, meet Kaydene Maarman
Kaydene Maarman started as an intern, Celebrating Women in Tech.
Kaydene Maarman started as an intern and was determined to reach epic heights. Recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Information Science, she continues to amaze us through her work ethic. Kaydene is pursuing her Honours in Information Science at the University of Pretoria.
Kaydene announced, “Now I can use my knowledge and skills in a formal work environment, thanks to EnterpriseWorx!”
We are very excited to present Kaydene as part of our Women in Tech campaign as she demonstrates that if you want something badly enough, you will work to achieve it against the odds. While working and studying isn’t easy, it comes with great rewards!
What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?
“I think the best part about being a woman in the tech industry is that it never gets boring. There are always new things to learn because of the developing nature of IT.”
What has been the most career-defining moment that you are proud of?
“It would be completing my undergraduate degree. No one really talks about all the blood, sweat AND tears that comes with getting that piece of paper. I look back at all the times when I wanted to throw in the towel, but on the day of my graduation (virtual), when I saw my name on my laptop screen, I felt so proud to have completed my 3-year degree despite the challenges I faced.”
Who has been your biggest advocate/mentor in the workplace, and why?
“My biggest advocate has been my brother. He always supports me in everything that I do, encourages me when I need it, and he always reminds me of how proud he is of me - and to never give up on my dreams.”
What do you think we should be encouraging more girls to consider a career in tech?
“I think the first thing to do would be to break gender stereotypes. Then, girls should be encouraged from an early age to consider or pursue a career in tech. Show them real examples of women in the tech industry and how the world is impacted by technology. Lastly, help them find suitable role models.“
We need strong women; strong women create their own destiny based on their own actions and inspire those she comes into contact with.
We are excited to have you as part of our team Kaydene and seeing you grow from strength to strength.
